Orthopaedic Surgery

Welcome to the division of orthopaedic surgery at McMaster University, known to many as MacOrtho. World renowned for its commitment to evidence-based care, education and research, our division is dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of high-level orthopaedic subspecialty care spanning across four major hospital sites – McMaster Children’s Hospital, Juravinski Hospital, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and Hamilton General Hospital.

MacOrtho remains at the forefront of orthopedic advancements across our eight orthopaedic subspecialties: sports medicine, arthroplasty, spine surgery, upper extremity, trauma, pediatrics, foot and ankle and musculoskeletal oncology. We are known as leaders in our field, from pioneering the latest techniques in robotics, virtual reality and motion capture technology, to the development and execution of large clinical trials for soft tissue treatments, traumatic infections and advanced pain management.

Research

The Centre for Evidence-Based Orthopaedics (CEO) was established in 2012 with the vision of improving the lives of patients with musculoskeletal injuries and disorders and being world leaders in orthopedic surgery research. 

CEO is committed to providing the best environment for conducting high impact orthopaedic research, fostering global collaborations and educating the researchers of tomorrow. Our key values include collaboration, innovation and practice-changing research based on the principles of evidence-based medicine. 

Clinical

Working with four core hospitals in the Hamilton, Ontario area, we provide orthopaedic surgical services through McMaster Children’s Hospital, Juravinski Hospital, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and Hamilton General Hospital. McMaster orthopaedics prides itself on using cutting edge technology, along with specialty best practices, to provide a high quality of effective care and treatment.
