CEO Collaborations

The Centre for Evidence-Based Orthopaedics (CEO) has developed strong collaborative relationships with local, national and international research groups.

Partnering Clinical Sites

CEO has established strong working relationships with a global network of over 300 surgeons at clinical sites in over 40 countries worldwide. Their knowledge, hard work and dedication to advancing orthopedic research on a global scale are instrumental to the success of our clinical studies.

Map of the world

R. Adams Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland, Baltimore

The CEO trauma program has recently partnered with Dr. Gerard Slobogean and colleagues at the R. Adams Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. This partnership has allowed CEO to expand its trauma program and establish two programs of research: Vitamin D and Fracture Healing and the Program of Randomized trials to Evaluate Preoperative antiseptic skin solutions In orthopaedic Trauma (PREP-IT).

The George Institute for Global Health in Sydney, Australia

CEO’s collaboration with the George Institute has been critical to the success of the International Orthopaedic Multicentre Study in Fracture Care (INORMUS) trial. Professor Rebecca Ivers, an injury epidemiologist and director of the Injury Division at The George Institute, has significant experience in the design and execution of injury related observational studies in low income settings with specific expertise in Asia. Her expertise and her extensive network of clinical sites has been integral to the success of INORMUS in Asia and beyond.

Femoral Acetabular Impingement (FAI) Collaborative

The FAI Research Collaborative is led by Dr. Olufemi Ayeni and brings together the foremost experts in sports medicine to evaluate the etiology and surgical treatment of FAI. The collaborative includes faculty, surgeons, methodologists, students and other researchers from North America, South America, Asia, and Europe – united by the common goals of gaining knowledge concerning management of this condition, fostering discussion regarding current practices and challenges and conducting large clinical studies to optimize the treatment of FAI.

Associación de Cirujanos Traumatológicos en las Americas (ACTUAR)

With the enthusiasm and success of the INORMUS study, orthopedic surgeons involved in this project have sought to create an expanded international collaborative initiative focused on building research capacity across institutions throughout Latin America. The product of this pioneering endeavor is Associación de Cirujanos Traumatológicos en las Americas (ACTUAR), a consortium established to support investigative and networking opportunities across the Americas.

Uganda Sustainable Trauma Orthopaedic Program (USTOP)

The USTOP partnership between academic institutions and hospitals in Canada and Uganda aims to educate health care providers in Uganda in systems and techniques for delivery of trauma care. This partnership aims to create a sustainable improvement in the care of individuals who are injured and reduce the rates of death and disability secondary to trauma.

Hamilton Arthroplasty Group (HAGrp)

The Hamilton Arthroplasty Group (HAGrp), founded in 1997 by the Hamilton Health Sciences Juravinski Hospital Orthopaedic Surgeons, is an independently funded multidisciplinary clinical outcomes research group dedicated to improving total joint replacement outcomes, focusing on patient quality of life through continuous quality improvement in clinical service, research and education in total hip and knee joint replacement.
