A Message from the Associate Chair, Education:
Welcome to the Department of Surgery’s Education website. Here you will find links to information regarding our nationally/internationally renowned residency and fellowship programs, as well as our clerkship programs; education-related initiatives such as the Office of Education Science, the Surgeon Scientist Program, and the International Surgery Desk; opportunities for professional development; and important information and resources for current and future faculty with respect to academic appointments and reviews.
Representing one of the Department of Surgery’s CREATE pillars, “Education that Inspires” has at its core a commitment to excellence in all educational experiences, as well as the promotion of lifelong learning, and an emphasis on personal and professional advancement and well-being for both faculty and students. Department and division leadership, as well as each member of our faculty, are focused on supporting and guiding learners at all levels of training as they work to meet required goals and objectives, in addition to helping them identify new opportunities to fulfill their personal and professional potential as they move forward in their careers as clinician educators. We are committed to the provision of safe, positive, and inclusive learning and working environments that “inspire”, empower, and challenge learners and faculty to pursue excellence as surgeons, teachers, and scholars, and to contribute meaningfully to the mission, themes and values of McMaster University and the Faculty of Health Sciences, and to the Department of Surgery’s vision of working collaboratively to CREATE a healthier world.
Please take a moment to explore our website. Questions and comments should be directed by email to: Katherine Wilson
