Education Overview

Dr. Brad Petrisor, professor of orthopaedic surgery, possesses a long and exemplary track record and reputation in education. He served for eight years as director of the orthopaedic surgery residency training program at McMaster and was named Program Director of the Year by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2018. Dr. Petrisor is highly regarded nationally for his work with the Royal College as well as internationally for his global surgery advocacy.

New! Burn (Acute & Reconstructive Surgery) Fellowship Program, McMaster University

The Department of Surgery, in conjunction with Hamilton Health Sciences, is now offering a one-year Burn (Acute & Reconstructive Surgery) Fellowship, encompassing the full spectrum of burn care, under the leadership of Dr. Marc Jeschke. Currently a professor in the Department of Surgery, medical director of the burn unit and vice-president of research for Hamilton Health Sciences, Dr. Jeschke is a world-renowned expert in translational research and a leader in the conduct of innovative research related to the management of burns.

The burn program provides tertiary and quaternary level care to patients within a catchment area of more than 2.5 million residents. The Hamilton General Hospital site of Hamilton Health Sciences houses the Regional Burn Unit and the Regional Trauma Centre. Learn more (PDF).
